Santorini gets the magazine covers, but a growing number of couples are quietly choosing Paros for their honeymoon instead — and rarely regretting it. The island has everything you picture when you think of Greece: sugar-cube villages, bougainvillea, a harbour full of fishing boats, sunsets over the Aegean. What it does not have is the cruise-ship crowds, the queue for the photo spot, or the feeling of being on a production line for newlyweds.
We have hosted a lot of honeymooners at our suites near Naoussa, and we have learned what makes these trips work. Here is how to plan a Paros honeymoon well.
Why Paros works so well for a honeymoon
It is romantic without trying too hard. Naoussa’s old port at dusk — lanterns, caiques, tables on the quay — is as atmospheric as anywhere in the Cyclades, but it still feels like a real place.
The beaches are genuinely good. Unlike Santorini, where volcanic cliffs mean dramatic views but limited swimming, Paros has soft sand and calm, clear water all around the coast.
The food is a highlight. Naoussa has some of the best restaurants in the islands, from barefoot fish tavernas to refined modern Greek cooking.
It is easy. The island is small, distances are short, and nothing needs much planning. After months of wedding logistics, that matters more than you think.
It is well connected. Ferries and flights from Athens, and fast boats to Santorini, Mykonos, Naxos and Milos, make it simple to combine with a second island.
The best time for a Paros honeymoon
- June: long days, warm weather, everything open, and the island fresh at the start of the season. The sea is still warming up.
- September: our favourite. The warmest sea of the year, golden light and a calmer, more grown-up atmosphere. Read more in Paros in September.
- July and August: hot, lively and busy, with the strong Meltemi wind on some days. Wonderful if you want energy; book everything early.

Where to stay: the most romantic part of Paros
For most honeymooners, the answer is the Naoussa area. You want to be close to the island’s best dinners and beaches, and that is where they are. The real choice is whether to stay in the old town or just outside it.
Inside Naoussa you are in the thick of things, but rooms are compact, views are of lanes rather than sea, and summer nights are lively. What to look for in a honeymoon suite
- A private pool or outdoor jetted tub — the single biggest upgrade to a honeymoon. Morning swims and sunset drinks without sharing either.
- A proper sea view, ideally from bed.
- A really good bed. You will finally catch up on sleep.
- Privacy — a terrace or courtyard that is not overlooked.
- Help on hand for the things you should not have to organise yourselves: boat trips, restaurant tables, transfers.

A 5-day Paros honeymoon itinerary
Day 1 — Arrive and exhale. Settle in, swim, and walk or cycle into Naoussa for sunset in the old port and your first long dinner. Do nothing else.
Day 2 — Kolymbithres and Naoussa bay. Take the little water taxi from the harbour to Kolymbithres, where wind-carved granite creates a series of private-feeling coves. Continue to Monastiri for lunch with your feet in the sand. Our beaches near Naoussa guide has the details.
Day 3 — A private boat day. The honeymoon splurge that is actually worth it. Charter a boat with a skipper and sail around the coast to sea caves, the Blue Lagoon between Paros and Antiparos, and the uninhabited islet of Despotiko. Swim off the boat, have lunch on board, come back salty and happy.
Day 4 — Lefkes and the east coast. Drive up to Lefkes in the morning for coffee in the square and a stroll along the old Byzantine path. Descend to the east coast for a late seafood lunch in Piso Livadi and an afternoon at Golden Beach. Drinks back at the suite as the light fades.
Day 5 — Antiparos. Hop across on the short ferry from Pounta, wander the bougainvillea-lined main street, swim at one of the beaches near the village and stay for sunset at Sifneiko beach. See our Antiparos day trip guide.

Pairing Paros with another island
A classic Greek honeymoon is two islands over eight to ten nights. Paros pairs naturally with:
- Santorini — for two or three nights of caldera drama before or after. Do Santorini first, then come to Paros to relax.
- Naxos — under an hour away by ferry, for mountain villages and huge beaches.
- Milos — for lunar landscapes and boat trips.
- Antiparos — if you just want a day or a night somewhere even quieter.

Small tips that make a big difference
- Book your accommodation before your ferries; the best suites go first, especially those with private pools.
- Reserve two or three special dinners in Naoussa in advance for July–September, and leave the other nights free.
- Rent a car for just a day or two rather than the whole stay — see Paros without a car.
